‘Goosebumps 2’ Teaser Image Reveals a Trip to ‘HorrorLand’

Several pieces of promotional art for upcoming Universal and Sony films debuted online today, including teaser images for Jurassic World 2 (you can check that out here) and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. One of the more curious images of the bunch is a logo for Goosebumps 2, which also reveals the official title of the sequel — and it’s something R.L. Stine fans should feel pretty stoked about.

The promo image comes from the latest issue of License Global magazine (via Bloody-Disgusting), and even though it doesn’t feature any characters or monsters, it does reveal the official title for Goosebumps 2:

Goosebumps: HorrorLand. That might not mean anything to those unfamiliar with R.L. Stine’s prolific book series, but if you were (or are) the kind of kid who gleefully spent your entire Scholastic Book Fair allowance on Stine’s spooky kids’ stories, then you know exactly what that means.

That title comes from One Day at HorrorLand, the 16th book in Stine’s original Goosebumps series. Released in 1994, the story follows a family as they get lost on a trip to the zoo, and wind up in a theme park run by monsters. Stine published a sequel, Return to HorrorLand, in 1999 as part of the Goosebumps 2000 series. The fictional theme park also inspired the author’s series of HorrorLand and Hall of Horrors novellas, as well as two companion websites and a video game.

The latter series went beyond the theme park to explore all sorts of scary stories and creepy creatures, so it’s entirely possible that the Goosebumps movie sequel might not be set in a theme park, though it will likely feature more of Stine’s spooky creations. Jack Black is expected to reprise his role as Stine in Goosebumps: HorrorLand, with original director Rob Letterman back behind the camera. The sequel hits theaters sometime in the fall of 2018.
