My sister has been bitten by the Etsy bug.  Do you know about that website?  It's an online marketplace for unique and crafty items that many regular stores don't carry.  In other words, it's a great place to get gifts for graduates.  She excitedly showed me some personalized gifts she ordered for her son's college graduation.  (Sorry I can't reveal details until he's seen them.  I don't want to spoil the surprise.)

I'm going the practical route, setting him up with some gift cards to help him settle into his new life in NYC.  But it's always nice to get and share gift ideas.  What have you given that was very well received?  What gift did you receive that made a lasting impression?

Is there a store in Ocean or Monmouth Counties where you typically find nice graduation gifts?

I don't know any student who wouldn't love some money, but what are some gifts that are more personal or inspirational?

By the way, if you want to give savings bonds which is a very traditional sort of gift for these types of occasions, there's a big change you need to know about.   They don't sell the paper bonds anymore so you'd have to order online:  https://www.treasurydirect.gov/indiv/planning/plan_gifts.htm
