Big Black Jack has a new home at last. Popcorn Park Zoo  the 320-pound Aldabra tortoise and three smaller Aldabra tortoises will reside in Lacey Twp.

It all began in August in Highlands, when residents heard something moaning.  In addition to Big Black Jack, the 320 lb. tortoise, 3 other tortoises were found, too.

The tortoises were family pets of the Hines Family who were  keeping the reptiles in their backyard.

Within a few weeks, the state and county Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Fish and Wildlife division had intervened and confiscated the tortoises, relocating them temporarily to Popcorn Park Zoo.
