Getting Tickets to See a Live Taping of a TV Show in New York
One of the many perks of our close proximity to New York City is that we're able to enjoy city whenever we want for a day, right? I've realized, however, that a lot of people have never even explored the possibility of seeing a live TV show taping in NYC. With the fall premiere season about to get underway, I thought it was a good time to share a few tips for getting tickets to these shows. Tickets are free after all!
'Saturday Night Live'
'Saturday Night Live' Ticket Info'Saturday Night Live' may be one of the "hottest" TV tickets in the city of New York. NOW is the time to enter the 'Saturday Night Live' ticket lottery! To enter the lottery for the 2015-2016 season, you must email NBC in the month of August only to be entered in the lottery. Email them at snltickets@nbcuni.com. Include all contact information and do not request a specific date. I have entered the lottery every year for a while now, and I haven't been lucky enough to win. But if YOU are selected, you and a guest will be given tickets to a random show during the season. Get all of the details here on getting tickets to see 'Saturday Night Live'.
'America's Got Talent'
'America's Got Talent' Ticket Info'America's Got Talent' is currently taping shows in the Radio City Music Hall, and tickets are available! The show is scheduled to tape on August 25 and 26. They will also be taping September 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16, 2015. NBC.com says it's as easy checking this website for details on the taping schedule, and to register for tickets. This could be your chance to see Howie, Howard Stern and Nick Cannon!
'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'
'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' Ticket Info'The Tonight Show' has a bit more complicated of a ticketing process, but it's totally worth it. I saw Jimmy Fallon when he was hosting 'Late Night,' and it was a lot of fun. 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' staff opens tickets about a month in advance, and you can register online for tickets when they become available. However, you'll definitely want to be online when the "box office" opens because tickets usually sell out for a month's worth of shows in under 10 minutes. Get all of the details on the 'Tonight Show's' ticketing website, and as a pro-tip I'd suggest that you follow the Tonight Show on Twitter for details on when tickets will be released each month.
'The View'
'The View' Ticket InfoIt looks like it is pretty easy to get tickets to 'The View,' if you're interested in seeing how the new cast members are doing. I just checked the ticketing website, and tickets are available for several dates in September 2015. After you request tickets for a specific date, 'The View' staff will notify you via email when your tickets have been made available.
'Live with Kelly and Michael'
'Live with Kelly and Michael' Ticket InfoGetting tickets to 'Live with Kelly and Michael' means you'll have to get into the city pretty early. The show tapes at 9 am, but they have an audience arrival time of closer to 7 am, I believe. I have seen the show a few times, and it is a great way to spend a morning in the city. Tickets, however, appear to sell out pretty quickly. It looks like the show is booked solid into October already. So you may want to keep this link handy to keep checking back for later in the fall or winter.
'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'
'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' Ticket InfoI haven't seen too many details about getting tickets for the new 'Late Show,' but it looks like reservations will take place online. I'm not entirely sure how often CBS and 'The Late Show' will open up the ticketing window, but it's always a good idea to bookmark the ticketing website.
'Late Night with Seth Myers'
'Late Night with Seth Myers' Ticket InfoIf you want to see a late night TV show, but don't want to wait for tickets to the 'Tonight Show,' it looks like tickets for 'Late Night with Seth Myers' are pretty easy to come by right now. Check it out on the 'Late Night' ticketing page.
