Leo Strazzeri is indicted on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a second-degree count that carries a possible penalty of five to 10 years in state prison plus up to $150,000 in fines.

Atlantic County investigators say Daniel Tavarez, 45, was in the crosswalk of Route 30 and Pennsylvania Avenue when he was hit July 9. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they found the vehicle Strazzeri drove in Atlantic City, unoccupied.

At the time, Strazzeri was given seven driving violation summonses. The autopsy on Tavarez listed the cause of death as multiple traumatic injuries.

A subsequent investigation by the Fatal Collisions unit in Acting County Prosecutor Jim McClain's office led to the additional charge. Strazzeri was taken into custody July 19th, with bail set at $50,000.
