Friday the 13th …. Does it make you nervous ?

So today is friday the 13th ,  are you superstitious ?

Fear of Friday the 13th is known as “ Triskaidekaphobia ” or ” Paraskavedekatriaphobia ”

According to a survey about 8 % of Americans fear Friday the 13th ! Personally it doesnt bother me, but I wont tempt fate by running under ladders, breaking mirrors or chasing black cats….does that make me a tad superstitious ?

One thing I WILL do is …. If I see a penny “heads up” I will always pick it up, hoping for “good” luck, but yes I’ll always grab the “heads up” penny … do you do that ?

So are you superstitious ? Are you more so on a Friday the 13th ?

Here’s some Friday the 13th facts:

  • Friday the 13th occurs three times this year: In January, April and July. Three is the most Friday the 13ths possible in one year.

  • Statisticians at the University of Melbourne and Monash University combed through the calendars of the past 400 years. Surprisingly, they found Friday is the most common day for the 13th to occur.

  • The success of the “Friday the 13th” horror movie franchise has placed the day in the national spotlight. From 1980 to 2009, the franchise has produced 12 movies to date.
