A Freehold man who was the owner of the now-defunct Galaxy Gymnastics School, is indicted by a grand jury on one count of possession of pornography that depicted the sexual abuse of children.

Ronald J. Charles, 53, of Love Lane in Freehold Township faces up to five-years in state prison on one count of third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possession of Child Pornography.

His arrest came in December of 2015 by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit after the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Regional Task Force received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip submitted was to report Charles who was trying to send multiple images of child pornography from his personal email address.

A search warrant followed the tip leading to the seizure of a computer from Charles’ home office.

Following his arrest a lengthy forensic examination of his computer found a wide variety of child porn images.

His arrest predates statutes updated in February of this year.

Following his arrest in December 2015, he was released after posting $40,000 bail with no 10 percent option, as set by Freehold Township Municipal Court Judge Nicole Sonnenblick.

As a condition of his bail, Judge Sonnenblick prohibited Charles from having any unsupervised contact with any minors and barred him from using the Internet.

He remains released on bail.

The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Margaret Koping of the Office’s Computer Crimes Unit.

Charles is represented by Eric Nelson, Esq., of Ocean Township and Staten Island, N.Y.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
