It's always important for us, as Ocean County residents, to stay prepared for emergencies. And the Township of Toms River is giving a helping hand to residents.

Sandbags definitely fall into the category of "you hope you'll never need them but they're important to have", and the Township wants to make sure that you have them on hand if the worst case scenario happens.

With 10,000 sandbags on hand, you can give the Toms River OEM a call at (732) 341-3267 to reserve yours.

Once you have the bags, you can head over to the Recycling Center behind the Toms River Department of Public Works to fill the bags for free between 7:30am and 3pm.

Flooding is truly one of those situations that you never want to find your home faced with, but with the help of the Township, Toms River residents can have preparation on hand at no cost.
