Kudos to the Ocean County Library system for collecting prom dresses and donating them to local students.  Thanks also to those of you who participated, donating hundreds of dresses!

This is a great example of recycling, to allow something to be used again.  Have you heard about upcycling?  It's using parts of something to create something of higher quality or value.  Not that we didn't all love our puffy sleeved taffeta dresses from the 80s, but face it, they're just not in style at the moment.

What's cool now is that there are lots of websites devoted to upcycling so you can get ideas on how to repurpose those old, out of date items in your closet.  If someone in your life is still in need of a dress for prom or a wedding, show them this site: http://www.parisciel.com/blog/en/55-intelligent-fun-ways-refashion-upcycle-prom-formal-wedding-dresses/#.VyH7Q9QrLct

Upcycling is fun for those of us who enjoy yard saling, too; turning someone elses "trash" into a "treasure!"

Have you done any upcycling?  At what websites do you get some of your ideas?
