Former Howell Land Use Director pleads guilty to stealing over $10,000 from municipality

A Jackson Township man who formerly served as Director of Land Use in Howell Township faces a theft related charge for allegedly helping himself to over $10,000.00 in cash receipts from the municipality.

Christian Jackson, 45, of Jackson Township plead guilty Thursday to stealing the funds in cash receipts for a total of $10,639.00 between February of 2014 and June of 2016.

He was charged with one count of third degree Theft by Unlawful Taking for stealing money paid to the town by residents and other businesses for permit applications.

The Monmouth County Prosecutors Office is recommending an unknown length of probation for Jackson at an upcoming sentencing on May 26.

He will no longer be allowed to hold any public office position, must give up his retirement benefits, and pay full restitution for the amount he is charged with stealing.
