Have you ever been to the Philadelphia Flower Show?  It's the world's oldest and largest indoor flower show with a great reputation.  I go almost every year and am never disappointed.

This year's theme is movies so it's fun to see trees, plants, and flowers all inspired by Disney/Pixar films.  I saw huge, grand scale displays representing scenes from "Finding Nemo," "The Parent Trap," and "The Lion King," among many others.  The cinema theme hits you when you first enter the Flower Show, with an impressive Entrance Garden featuring an art deco theatre facade, marquee made of flowers and lights, and a centerpiece of thousands of roses named after movie stars.

Walking around, looking at the beautiful blooms and vibrant colors and smelling the fragrant flowers, I couldn't help but feel hopeful.  Winter will be ending soon and then we'll be seeing this type of natural beauty all around us.  The Flower Show really is a cure for the winter blues.  It runs through Sunday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philly.

One of the reasons I like to attend is to see what appeals to me, and learn the names of the specimens.  I get design ideas.  I see what plants look good with what flowers with hopes that I can recreate a similar look in my garden.  By attending the flower show, I discovered that I love magnolia trees and bromeliads.  What are some flowers or trees that you like?
