The four temporarily joined the East Dover Fire Company in Toms River.

However, Manville emergency management coordinator Ken Otrimski tells the Courier News  firefighters are not supposed to self-deploy during a state of emergency. Otrimski says officials need to know where they are.

Gary Barras says he was expelled from Manville's North End Volunteer Fire Co. 3 for aiding his former hometown. Barras says he was told he could go as long as he didn't use any Manville fire equipment.
