A captain of the Stratford Volunteer Fire Company in Camden County, who allegedly tried to arrange a sexual encounter on line with what he thought was a woman and her underage daughter, ends up behind bars in Burlington County.

Jesse M. Kopala, 39, was charged Wednesday in Burlington County with attempted sexual assault and attempted endangerment of the welfare of a child, according to information from County Prosecutor Robert Bernari and Mount Laurel Police Chief Dennis Cribben, Jr.

Investigators said that Kopala was apprehended in Mount Laurel, where he expected to find the women he had met through the Internet. Kopala indicated that he sought sex with the "minor" and encouraged the "mother" to take part as well, authorities said. They were members of the Prosecutor's High-Tech Crimes Unit.

The delivery truck driver and firefighter now awaits a grand jury hearing. He was placed inthe Burlington County Jail with bail set at a full $75,000.
