A flash over from a house fire on Ridge Avenue in Lakewood Wednesday afternoon burned a firefighter and displaced 16 people, according to The Lakewood Scoop.

The firefighter suffered burns to his ears, neck and arm from shooting flames as he entered the burning home. The Lakewood Scoop reports two officers escaped injury by diving out of a window.

The Red Cross was assisting 11 adults and five children from several families who were displaced by the fire.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office was assisting in the investigation due to the injury, according to The Lakewood Scoop. The cause is still being determined.

Fellow firefighters told The Lakewood Scoop, the injured firefighter was in good spirits and was expected to be released from the hospital today.
