A wind-driven fire guts a vacant summer home and sends several people to the hospital in Surf City Wednesday. According to the Asbury Park Press, a few firefighters and one victim were taken to Southern Ocean Medical center with minor injuries. The blaze, on South 1st Street, was reported to officials at 5 p.m. Officials say every fire department on the island and some inland responded. It took them nearly two hours to extinguish the blaze.
