According to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy, the blaze broke out around 2 a.m.

By 3 a.m., fire companies from Silverton, Toms River 1 and 2, Pleasant Plains and East Dover had the flames under control. No injuries were reported.

Mastronardy says the home has been vacant since Superstorm Sandy damaged the structure.

Detective Thomas Dimichele is working with the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department to gather details of the investigation.  The cause of the fire is still unknown.
