I spent a good part of yesterday at Monmouth University where the Department of Communications held a career event and it’s clear that the biggest concern among most college students today is finding a job.

Many of the soon-to-be graduates I spoke with are worried that upon graduation they’ll be moving home and doing so without a job.  Oh, they might be able to return to the one they’ve had during summer break but they didn’t spend four years at Monmouth to be a waitress, bartender or lifeguard, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Clearly this year’s college grads will find tough job markets but as I told many of them yesterday, you only need to find one job.  Just as long as that one is not mine.

Looking forward to tonight’s Jersey Shore Island “Homecoming” Party at Klee’s Bar & Grill in Seaside Heights from 6-10pm.  It’s a wine tasting and beer sampling event that will help Hometown Heroes continue to assist those impacted by Superstorm Sandy.  Owners Butch Anderson and Sue Brosnan, along with General Manager Glenn McCarthy are hosting the event as a way to give back to those who have supported them as well.

Klee’s was fortunate in that it did not suffer major damage from the storm and they were able to re-open right after Christmas.  Tickets for tonight’s event are $20 and some will be available at the door.

The road to Atlantic City continues tonight for over 100 wrestlers who will take to the mat at the Pine Belt Arena as the Region 6 Tournament begins with preliminary round action.  District champs don’t wrestle tonight as they receive byes into the quarterfinals on Friday with the regions finishing on Saturday.  Tonight’s matches featuring district 2nd and 3rd place finishers, gets underway at 5pm.

The two Ocean County High Schools without head football coaches are expected to fill those positions during Board of Education meetings Thursday night.  Central Regional’s Vince Casale stepped down last month as coach but will continue to serve as the school’s Athletic Director.  At Pinelands, Sean DeRosa resigned at the end of last season.
