Edmond S. Bell, whose last known address was on Brookfield Drive in Jackson, is described as a black male, 26, standing 5'10" and weighing 161 pounds.

Police said Bell was behind the wheel of a 2001 Lexus that patrol officers brought to a halt at 9:22 PM on North Countyline Road, near Bartley Road and Picadilly Drive.

When officers, conducting a search, detected an object in Bell's pants, he bolted and disappeared through woods near Picadilly Drive, police said.

Officers and an Ocean County Sheriff's K-9 team followed a trail that ran cold in a nearby neighborhood, and a search of surrounding woods came up empty as well.

However, police said, they did find a "large amount" of what appeared to be crack in the yard of a home in the vicinity. Investigatros are looking into a possible connection.

Police added that they have not confirmed speculation that Bell is armed.

They filed warrant complaints, charging Bell with obstruction and resisting arrest. He has been listed as a wanted person in New Jersey, and bail on the warrants was set at $15,000. Supplemental complaints charge Bell with possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic infractions.

If you are aware of Bell's whereabouts, you're urged to reach Jackson PD, 732-928-1111.

The incident occurred only a short time after Jackson police rounded up seven suspects from the township, Toms River, Brick, Lakewood and Manalapan on drug charges.
