Do you remember that Harry Chapin song "Cat's In The Cradle?"  It tells of a father who was too busy to play ball with his son and then the grown up son who is too busy to see his father.  Those lyrics reflect something that many of us have experienced, either as children or as parents.  Life can get so darn busy!  It's sometimes good to remind ourselves that parents won't be around forever so it's good to make time for them.  At the end of life, it's the moments and memories that matter.  Not the ties.

So let's use this space to reflect on some favorite moments with our fathers; something from your childhood or from your adult years.

I'll share a few:  When I was a kid, Dad would take me to the annual holiday party at his office in Manhattan.  I loved seeing him in his work environment.  It was my first look at skyscrapers, computers, and fancy phones with lots of buttons.  I remember the fun I had dancing to Polka music with him both as a kid and when I got older at family celebrations.  As an adult in Toms River, I cherish the times Dad and I would just sit out by the lake and enjoy the sunsets together.  We would comment on the peacefulness we felt as we looked at the still water reflecting gorgeous reds and oranges.  And seeing him become a loving grandfather to my sister's kids...well, that was just the best.

What were some of your favorite moments with your father?  Please share in the Comments section.  And Happy Father's Day to those of you Dads who are reading this.
