A defaced .357 magnum handgun, 56 rounds of ammunition and a big array of drugs land a Brick Township man in jail, and his father faces charges as well.

According to information from township police, Sixto DeJesus III, 29, faces 10 separate counts related to a Monday search of the Schindler Drive house, culminating a month-long probe of heroin distribution.

Members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and Special Emergency Operations Team uncovered more than 50 grams of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, heroin, morpine, suboxone, buprenorphine and an assortment of drug-related items in addition to the weapon, police said.

DeJesus III faces counts of handgun possession, certain persons not to have weapons, possession of a defaced firearm, five counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and one count each of possessing more than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River with bail set at $75,000 by Judge Robert LePore.

His father, Sixto DeJesus Jr., 56, is charged with marijuana possession of less than 50 grams and an outstanding contempt warrant. He was released on a summons.
