New Jersey State Police said Larry Walker, 43, of Bridgeton was driving westbound on Route 49 in Fairfield when his RAV 4 crossed over into the eastbound lanes into the path of a school bus, causing it to go off the road and overturn.

School bus driver Osheia Wallace, 48, of Bridgeton was hospitalized at Inspira Medical Center for minor injuries along with students Nyreek Russell, 15; Cristal Alvarez, 14; Shy-Anne Walker 17 and Ja-Nye Brown, 11, all of Bridgeton according to police. Vera Cole, 82, of Fairfield, was taken to Cooper Medical Center with serious injuries. She was last reported to be in critical, but stable condition. State Police have not filed any charges.

Several media outlets including 6ABC and NJ Advance Media report the bus was transporting Bridgeton public students to the Pineland Learning Center, an accredited day school serving students age 5-21 with behavioral, social, emotional and academic challenges from throughout southern New Jersey.
