Exercise Program for Physically-Challenged Starts Second Season in Toms River
Adults with chronic ailments that render open-air exercise nearly impossible can stay in shape – in the waters of the Ocean County YMCA pool in Toms River.
Ocean County SWIM Inc. begins its second year September 4. Volunteers in the program aim to help adults coping with the impacts of debilitating conditions such as of Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, polio, strokes, Lou Gehrig’s disease, fibromyalgia, and joint replacements.
Participants exercise in the pool from 1 PM unti 2 PM, and enjoy a social hour immediately afterward. There is no cost to take part, and membership in the Y is not required.
If you’d like to attend, or would like to volunteer some time, reach Eileen McKenna at 732-270-8413, or Jaimie Hinshelwood at 732-341-9622, extension 2277.
