Bail for Christian Witzig,66, of Keansburg was set at $100,000, according to the complaint filed Thursday in Aberdeen Municipal Court. He was placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

The complaint indicates that Powers and his family were threatened "directly and indirectly," though it offers no time frame in which the alleged incidents took place.

The arresting officer quoted Witzig as saying, "I might not go to Heaven, but I don't care. I know I am going to die, but he is going to die first." He subsequently set out to confront the Chief, counter to instructions given to him previously, according to the arrest report.
