Dajhamal Craighead, 20, of Toms River, and Markee Paseler, 20, of Lakewood, were arrested May 4 after police said they found 80 wax folds, marijuana, and a promethazine mixture - with lots of fabric softener sheets to cover the odor.

According to authorities, Lieutenant Thomas Rizzo spotted the 2006 Nissan Altima moving in and out of its travel lane, and flagged it to a stop on the southbound highway at Estelle Lane.

During the stop, Rizzo learned of a warrant for Paseler issued in Wall Township, police said. Paseler was arrested on the strength of the warrant. Rizzo also detected the odor of marijuana, police said.

Craighed turned over the weed, authorities said, but the lieutenant found the heroin folds while frisking him, and found marijuana under the carpet lining in the trunk, along with two plastic baby bottles filled with the mixture known as lean, commonly mixed with drinks.

Both were brought to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold in lieu of $22,000 bail, with no 10 percent option for release.

Craighead and Paseler are charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Craighead was also handed two traffic tickets, for failure to have the car inspected and failure to maintain a lane of travel. The car was impounded, pending forfeiture hearings.
