Applications for the Sara Dubinin Scholarship are being taken through January 2, 2016. The award will be presented January 24, 2016 at the New Jersey Bred Equine Breeder Awards ceremony in O'Connor's Restaurant in Eastampton.

The scholarship memorializes the young student from Sayreville, known for her fondness of horses, who died tragically in a car crash at age 19 in September, 2007, a matter of months after graduating Cardinal McCarrick High School in South Amboy and entering Middlesex County College..

Entry is open to applicants, age 15 through 19, who live in New Jersey. Members of organizations represented on the New Jersey Equine Advisory Board are also eligible.

Submissions should include an essay on the theme, "How horses have affected my life and how horses figure into my future." Financial need will constitute part of the application review process.
