Every now and then, something a newsmaker says catches our attention. However, because of the limits of what we can actually use on the air or even write in our articles, some of the juicy tidbits don't make it to copy. So, I'm going to share it with you in this blog.

What caught my attention was the portion of an interview WOBM News Bureau Chief Tom Mongelli had with Six Flags Great Adventure about a Job Fair they're hosting next month. You can get details of the event by clicking here .

Toward the end of the interview, Six Flags Communications Director Kristin Siebeneicher shared something that I thought would encourage older job seekers, those that have been downsized because of budget cuts or failing businesses. Most of us, including myself have been on the receiving end of that paring knife.

Well, Kristin shared a story about her brother who took a career hit and she says, believe it or not, a perceived menial, low paying job at a theme park actually helped him get his career footing back.

acquired as a volunteer for some of the many nonprofit organizations. Learn a new skill by working as an unpaid intern or even take the fun seasonal jobs if you can at Six Flags Great Adventure, First Energy Park or any one of our boardwalk resorts. Just get out of your house and start moving. It just might be the fresh spark you need to have fun, meet people, make contacts, build references and land your next fabulous job! I did it and it works!
