A 90-year-old Toms River woman survives a devastating fire that left her home inhabitable. And within 10 hours, someone rifled the remains for valuables.

According to Toms River Police, the victim is still under hospital treatment for smoke inhalation she suffered in the fire that was reported on Caribbean Drive at about 10 PM Sunday.

Inspectors from the township Fire Prevention Bureau locked and secured the dwelling after completing their investigations, police said.

At around 8 AM today, an individual acting on her behalf arrived to find that the woman's jewelry and flat-screen television had been stolen, police said.

Patrolmen Mike Gallipoli and Carl Basile are heading up the burglary probe at 732-349-0150.
