Dynamic Duo On Stage In Camden
I saw one of the best concerts of my life last night: Sting and Peter Gabriel on stage together at the BB&T Center in Camden (the place on the waterfront that has gone through a number of name changes...most recently it was the Susquehanna Bank Center.)
What I enjoyed so much was that they sang some of each other's songs, while also performing their own. Sting sang lead vocals on Gabriel's "Shock The Monkey," while Gabriel did a really cool rendition of "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free." As a bonus, he added a bit of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" in the middle of that number.
Vocally, the guys were perfect. Both in their mid-60s, they sounded and looked great, like they are enjoying this "Rock, Paper, Scissors" tour. They played for more than 2 1/2 hours, so fans certainly got our money's worth. All the reviews I've read and comments I heard were positive. Seeing two established artists on stage playing with and off of each other seems a recipe for a super satisfying concert experience. So now I want more!
My joyful reaction to last night's show got me thinking what other pairings I'd like to see on stage. Maybe you can get your co-workers in on the conversation: "What two artists would you like to see perform together?" Here are some of my "dynamic duo" suggestions: Adele with George Michael (or Sam Smith or Michael Buble,) Bruno Mars with Aretha Franklin, and how about getting "Voice" pals Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani together for a tour?
The floor is yours, ladies and gentlemen of Ocean County! Which 2 artists would you like to see on stage together?
