Bill Hoey, OCVTS Superintendent, said the flames were contained to a dryer used by the Culinary Program, but smoke and soot filtered through the building.

"We have crews in today cleaning to make sure the building is thoroughly cleaned of soot and we have air purifiers working to make sure all of the smoke is out," said Hoey.

The building itself wasn't  damaged, according to Hoey, but he expects the clean-up to take a few days.

"I expect the clean-up to continue tomorrow, then we'll reopen the school on Thursday," he said.

A custodian smelled smoke around 5:30 p.m. and alerted the fire department. There were about 25 adults students in the building at the time, but Hoey said no one was injured and everyone was evacuated safely.
