Manchester police say Francine M. Mahoney, 58, of Whiting, was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after her car collided with one driven by Edward D. Weiss, 49, also of Whiting.

The crash occured about 10:45 AM near Keswick Pines. Police said both drivers were belted in, and airbags deployed in both cars. Weiss refused treatment, police said.

Police have not disclosed details of the accident report that would indicate the direction of each car, estimated speeds, possible distracted driving, or whether field sobriety tests were needed.

Investigators are considering the role that road flooding might have played. Patrolmen Douglas Higgins and Thomas O'Hare are conducting followup investigations.

Whiting's First Aid squad and volunteer firefighters also responded, along with Quality Medical Transport and MonOc paramedics, police said.
