Driver Survives Spectacular Toms River Car Crash
A 45-year-old Toms River woman is lucky to be alive after a horrific crash in the township - but police are trying to find out why her car left the road and landed on its roof.
According to police, her car was the only one involved in the collision that was reported on Sunset Avenue around 9:28 AM Tuesday.
Authorities say that the car had overturned and she was trapped inside. Patrol officers broke the windows and crawled inside to try removing her, but it took heavy rescue gear from the Pleasant Plains and Silverton fire departments to complete the task.
The as-yet unidentified driver was treated by Toms River Emergency Medical Services and rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
The crash is still under investigation.
