As WOBM is looking ahead to celebrating 50 years at the Jersey Shore, another local tradition that goes back over half a century is ending effective immediately.

Today, Raceway Park announced that they are ending their long relationship with drag racing and the NHRA.

With drag racing roots going back to the track's 1965 opening, a statement released by the park today said that fans will still be able to catch motocross and kart racing, along with auto shows, swap meets, monster truck shows, and more.

Having grown up nearby and hearing the iconic Raceway Park commercials my whole life, it was a thrill for me to be able to hop into a dragster twice in the last few years for a nearly 150mph sprint down their signature 1/4 mile strip.
