Gerber Foods has voluntarily recalled several batches of its Organic 2nd Foods pouches because of a packaging defect.

The Florham Park company in a statement said the defect could make the packages spoil as they are transported and have a bloated appearance. There could also be an "off" taste or odor.

The affect products are:

Gerber Organic 2nd Foods Pouches – Pears, Carrots & Peas, 3.5 ounce pouch, UPC: 15000074319

  • Batch: 51945335XX, best by date of July 12, 2016
  • Batch: 51955335XX, best by date of July 13, 2016

Gerber Organic 2nd Foods Pouches – Carrots, Apples & Mangoes, 3.5 ounce pouch, UPC: 15000074395

  • Batch: 519555335XX, best by date of July 13, 2016
  • Batch: 51965335XX, best by date of July 14, 2016

To check the best-by date and batch code, look at the code that is printed at the bottom of the back of the pouch as shown in the picture above.

Gerber President and CEO Gary Tickle apologized for the recall  and said the company is working to remove all remaining product off store shelves.
