There aren't many large areas in the country without at least some criminal gang activity, even here at the Jersey shore. A New York State lawman came up with a unique way to try to stop gang activity.

Rochester, NY Police Chief James Sheppard took the direct approach, sending personal letters directly to known gang members, basically saying, we know who you are, we know who your friends are, and we're watching you.

The letter is actually pretty polite, even saying, "we care about you as individuals". You can read the whole text of the letter here.

So what do you think, while being a unique way to deal with gang members, do you think it would be effective in our area? Feel free to comment below and let us know!
