It's the candy that represents Easter and Spring with all of their colors.  It's a great filler in the Easter basket, there are so many different flavors and colors and President Ronald Reagan LOVED this colorful, sweet candy.

One of the earliest references to the Jelly Bean was with Boston candy maker William Schrafft who urged people to send his Jelly Beans to Union Soldiers in the Civil War.

President Ronald Reagan loved these egg shaped candies but he originally started snacking on Jelly Beans to stop smoking his pipe.  Jelly Belly, the gourmet Jelly Bean maker created a blue berry Jelly Bean for President Reagan..so there would be red, white and blue.

National Jelly Bean day is April 22nd.

Do you remember the 1998 movie "Babe: Pig in the City"?  Jelly Beans were handed out to the animals during the movie.

Jelly Beans come in all different flavors among one of the favorites of Americans is the red one, cherry flavor.  Popcorn flavor came out a couple of years ago and became the number one flavor with Jelly Belly's.  But, no worries cherry flavor lovers, cherry is back at number one at being the favorite flavor of Jelly Beans.

A fact about me and Jelly Beans, I'm not a big fan--the only color I'll eat is red.  Now my Dad, Jelly Beans are his favorite!  I look at a Jelly Bean and think of him every time.

What flavor jelly bean is your favorite?
