I saw a very funny scene this past weekend. I was in Brick running some errands, as I pulled into a parking space, I noticed what you see there on the left. A guy was carefully inspecting every inch of his black BMW, spot polishing here, blowing dust off there, and generally fussing over his vehicle. You may also notice how he parked straddling 4 spots so no other cars could park next to him.

I covertly took a picture and posted it to my Facebook with a few choice words. Where it got really funny was when a friend posted this picture:

Exact same parking lot, 15 minutes later, another guy making a fuss over his car in public. What are the chances?

Don't get me wrong, I take pride in my car and like to keep it looking sharp. But I just feel like there's something about making a show of it in public that's just a little...well...obnoxious. I mean if I see a fresh bird dropping or something and I happen to have a napkin I'll clean it off, but I'm not going to spend 20 minutes polishing my car in public.

And don't even get me started on people who feel the need to park between spots so people don't park next to them. Sure, the little scratches and dings can be annoying, but it's going to happen eventually.

So how about you, do you coddle your car or just let it go since it's going to get dirty and dinged anyway? Take the poll below then feel free to leave a comment!
