Disaster Unemployment Assistance Deadline Approaching
New Jerseyans who were left unemployed due to the superstorm have until February 4 to file an application for Disaster Unemployment Insurance.
The benefits are available for a period of up to 27 weeks, but claims filed after the deadline may not be eligible for payment. Of the 4,205 claims received by the Division of Unemployment Insurance, more than 2,000 have been approved for the benefit.
Anyone left unemployed because of Sandy may file for Unemployment Insurance benefits online at www.njuifile.net or by calling a New Jersey Reemployment Call Center at:

Please note that one must first file for regular state Unemployment Insurance benefits before it can be determined that one qualifies for DUA benefits.
