Dirt Bike & Quad Collide in Toms River

New details about an accident involving two off-road vehicles in Toms River Thursday afternoon. Township Police say the incident in a wooded area near Intermediate School East off Hooper Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. was the result of a head-on collision between a dirt bike and a quad.

The driver of the dirt bike is identified as a minor who was wearing a helmet and was air lifted to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with a severe leg injury as a precaution.

Police are still looking for the driver of the quad and could not confirm if that driver was wearing a helmet. Both vehicles have been recovered.
