Delran man moved dead woman’s body instead of calling cops, say investigators
A Delran man, who allegedly dumped a woman's body in a copse of trees in Cinnaminson when she suddenly died last week, is charged with desecration of human remains.
Murat Sahbaz, 37, is in the Burlington County Jail while awaiting court proceedings on the second-degree count, according to information from Burlington County Prosecutor Scott A. Coffina and Cinnaminson Public Safety Director Michael P. King.
According to investigators, Sahbaz and Sevgi Yilmaz, 39, of Edgewater Park, booked a room July 3 in the Hallmark Inn on Route 130, where she suffered a cerebrah hemorrhage. The cause of death was established through an autopsy by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. ian Hood.
Detectives believe that Sahbaz deliberately avoided calling police, and instead placed Yilmaz's body in his car and drove three blocks to a wooded section near Pennsauken and Calhoun Streets, then moved her car to a spot near the body.
A Cinnaminson patrol officer linked the car to a missing persons report filed July 4 by her family, authorities said.
Police in Cinnaminson, Delran, and Edgewater Park, along with New Jersey State Police, assisted the County Prosecutor's investigators. Assistant County Prosecutor Bob VanGist leads the State's case. Authorities did not indicate whether Sahbaz has retained legal counsel.
