Dante Strong, 21, pleaded guilty to a first-degree charge of aggravated manslaughter and two second-degree weapons counts in conneciton with the death of Adrian Anderson, 23, according to information from the office of acting Monmouth County Prosectuor Chris Gramiccioni.

At his arrest on November 7, 2013, Strong was charged with murder and two weapons-possession counts. There is no mention from Gramiccioni's office of whether the plea also covers unrelated armed-robbery charges filed during the same period.

Anderson's family was consulted on the plea bargain, which would prevent Strong from being considered for parole until serving nearly 13 years under New Jersey's No Early Release Act (NERA), and he would serve five years of parole supervision after release.

Strong remains in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold on $1,450,000 bail, awaiting an October 7 sentencing date.

In his allocution, Strong recounted involvement in a group that was engaged in confrontations with other groups around Liberty Street on September 21, 2013.

In one of the skirmishes, Strong said, a female relative was hurt, at which point he got a gun and shot in the direction of several individuals on the porch of 135 Liberty Street, hitting Anderson.

Officers who responded to 911 calls from the spot that night found Anderson unconscious and bleeding from several gunshot wounds on the porch. Efforts to keep him alive proved futile at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
