It's another "webisode" of Daytripping with Shawn Michaels. This time we are hiking New Jersey! We took a trip to Hacklebarney State Park in Chester in Hunterdon County. This State Park made the Top 10 Best Places To Hike In the Garden State according to njhiking.com

This is a beautiful park and is about 90 minutes from Ocean County. The surrounding area is also beautiful farm country so once you get off the major highways it's a very scenic drive. The hike itself was at times easy and at times difficult. The trail along the Black River is rocky and definitely a challenge. Other trails are clear and well marked with some challenging inclines. Plenty of picnic tables throughout the trails for a picnic lunch and great photo ops too!

The Black River is stocked with trout (seasonal) so make sure you have your fresh water license and enjoy a great fishing spot.

The park also has bathroom facilities.

This is one of the best State parks we have hiked and I think anyone looking for a great outdoor day trip should put this park on their list and we are glad we did! The town of Chester also has lots of cool shops and restaurants if you wanna trek into town (by car) after your done hiking.
