Crow Bar Attack Leads to Manchester Man’s Arrest

A 58 year-old Manchester man faces aggravated assault and weapons charges after allegedly attacking two visitors with a crow bar.  Police took Gary Watson into custody late Sunday night after learning that he allegedly chased Seaside Heights residents Phillip Merritt, 38 and Amanda Rahn, 28 down Millford Avenue. According to police, the attack followed a violent encounter between Watson and Merritt earlier that evening.

Both Merritt and Rahn sustained minor injuries in the attack. Police say all parties involved received medical treatment by EMT's on the scene but refused further medical attention.

Bail for Wason was set at $5,000 with no ten percent option and he was transported to the Ocean County Jail.
