Crime foiled, lives saved by Berkeley Township Police earlier this month

Two drug overdose victims were revived, a resident was picked up on a warrant and Berkeley Township Police investigated a number of various crimes and incidents between May 31 and June 6.

Drug Overdose Revivals:

Frederick Drive June 2, 3:48 am

Patrolman Shawn Bowens, Patrolman Thomas Eichen and Patrolman Patrick Coletti responded to a Frederick drive apartment after receiving a call of a heroin overdose.

The caller told police on arrival that the victim began seizing from using heroin.

She was able wake the victim up before he fled when he found out police were on the way.

Police found the victim unconscious nearby and revived him without the use of Narcan and then had him transported to Community Medical Center for further evaluation.

Madras Court (Holiday City) June 2, 4:08 am

Patrolman Thomas Eichen and Patrolman Justin Heffernan responded to a home on Madras Court on a call for a drug overdose.

The victim was revived with the use of Narcan after showing signs of an opiate overdose and was sent to Community Medical Center for further evaluation.

Car Crash:

Motor Vehicle Crash, June 6, 11:10 p.m

Police investigated a two-car crash near Davenport Road in the Holiday City section of the township between a JCP&L work truck and a minivan.

What led to the crash occurring has not been disclosed but a number of people needed medical attention.

The driver of the mini-van suffered neck and back injuries and transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for further evaluation, while four of her passengers including a 7-year old and a 6-month old who suffered minor injuries and transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

 The JCP&L driver, 29-year old Thomas Zadroga of Tabernacle, New Jersey was not reportedly injured but did receive traffic citations for Careless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane.

Warrant Arrest:

Route 9 near Rite Aid, June 5, 2:42 am

Patrolman Ryan Wahl and Patrolman Mainor Puerto reasoned to Route 9 near the Right Aid on reports of suspicious male.

They found 64-year old James Peck of Seabreeze Court in Bayville upon their arrival and placed him in handcuffs on two outstanding warrants he had for his arrest.

One was out of Carlstadt for $808.00 for Failure to Comply and the other out of Ridgefield Park for $1,614.00 also for Failure to Comply.

He was turned over to Ridgefield Police after failing to post bail.

  Burglary and Criminal Mischief:

Central Parkway, June 1, 1:07 pm

Patrolman Nicholas Lugo and Patrolman Don Rowley responded to a burglary report at a residence on Central Parkway of which the victim was in the process of buying.

It was empty and owned by the bank so he had made an appointment to meet the contractor that afternoon.

Someone had already been there as the man found the door open and two screens pulled off in the back of house to coincide with some other damage.

Police are still looking for a suspect(s) as they investigate the incident.

Carlyle Drive, June 1, 3:14 pm

Patrolman Clark Baranyay reported to a residence on Carlyle Drive for a criminal mischief report from a victim who came upon some broken glass lying on his back deck as he was cleaning up.

He directed police to a hole in his back window in one pane of the glass...with a rock lying on the ground five-feet away.

Police continue their search for a suspect(s).

SouthEast Columbus Circle, June 3, 8:06 am

 
Patrolman Michael Connell and Patrolman Salvatore Falcone responded to a criminal mischief report from a victim who told police someone threw an egg and cracked the drivers side tail light on his car sometime in the overnight hours.

Gallo Disposal Company, June 5, 12:05 am

 Patrolman Ryan Wahl and Patrolman Mainor Puerto responded to Gallo Disposal Co. at 161 Route 9 and spoke with the owner who told them he'd been getting a number of suspicious calls from an unknown number related to his business.

Upon arrival his suspicions were correct as three of his signs were spray painted white.

This incident remains under investigation as police search for suspects.
