Arnold Ludd, 42, is charged with credit card theft, theft by deception, endorsing stolen credit cards and fraudulent credit card use, according to Stafford Township police who apprehended him near the Best Buy where his cards had been rejected.

Ludd had 15 bogus credit cards and a number of gift cards that had been bought with the fake cards, police said. Store workers reported that he tried to buy about $2,500 worth of Apple Mac Books, but approvals for the cards were repeatedly declined.

Ludd dashed from the store when officers arrived, but the flight ended a short distance away, police said.

He is accused of having credit card information belonging to 15 vicitms, and producing the cards with their account numbers and his name. Investigators linked him to similar cases at Best Buys in the other three towns.

Ludd was sent to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $50,000 bail. Additional charges of identity theft are pending the results of further investigation, police said.
