Crash in Toms River Hospitalizes Driver

A Brick Township 63-year-old is flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after his car careens off a Toms River street, flips and traps him inside.

Police Chief Mike Mastronardy says that Alesio Politi’s 2008 Cadillac was heading east on Yorktown Boulevard in Holiday City around 9 PM Thursday when it sailed off the road near Hovsons Boulevard. It rammed a tree, then careened on for 45 feet, turning over and pinning Politi.

Silverton volunteer firefighters pulled Politi from the wreckage and first-aiders tended him until the helicopter arrived.

Investigators now are trying to determine the chain of events that led to the crash.
