Crash jams Route 9 in Bayville

A midafternoon collision on Route 9 in Bayville draws emergency responders and brings traffic to a crawl near Ocean Gate Drive.

A minivan and a compact car are involved in the incident that occurred just steps away from the Bayville McDonald's, according to WOBM News reporter Mark Anthony.

The crash occupied most of the intersection in the center of the highway. At least five people from both vehicles were involved, by Anthony's observation, and three ambulances responded.

The extent of possible injuries hasn't been determined, but Anthony relayed that the force of the impact activated airbags, and that police and paramedics were called in.
