Whitty Road in Toms River Reopens, Crash Probe Continues
Drivers on one of the busiest local roads in Toms River were detouring while a horrific one-car crash was cleared this morning, but a probe is still in progress.
According to Toms River Police spokesman Ralph Stocco, Whitty Road was closed between North Bay Avenue and Old Freehold Road. No injuries resulted - but the car rammed a utility pole hard enough to snap it in half.
The pole, said Stocco, belongs to Jersey Central Power and Light. the company's outage map showed no significant power disruptions.
