Parents of children who attend South Toms River Elementary are on notice following a coyote sighting on school grounds Monday, according to school officials.

Students were forced to stay inside during recess as a precaution.

Police will be on hand today as children arrive at school and the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife has been notified.

A letter sent home with children warns parents not to allow children on school grounds until the coyote is located.
