PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a child on Tuesday night.

According to an alert from the township, the attempted abduction happened in the Presidential Lakes section. The alert said the suspect was driving a Ford Ranger Pickup Truck.

The incident, according to 6ABC Action News, involved a 14-year-old girl who was walking when the man approached her. The story quoted Lt. Jason Waters as saying the suspect was wearing a mask when he tried to get the girl into his truck.

After being confronted by the man, the girl screamed and ran away, which police say was the right thing to do.

The girl did not get a license plate number for the truck and police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 609-894-8201.
