While doing some house cleaning over the weekend I realized something about myself.  I apparently have an unhealthy obsession with school supplies.  I have more pens than I will probably ever need in my lifetime.  Some are still unopened in their packaging because apparently one time when I went shopping I felt I should "stock up."  Perhaps I feared that 100 pens would all run out of ink on the same day.  I don't know.  The point is, I love pens.  Some have hotel names on them.  Some are pens I bought at museums and zoos and other attractions I've visited.

The other thing I seem to collect are notebooks.  Blank notebooks.  Some spiral.  Some bound.  If there are still blank pages in the notebook currently on my desk, why do I keep buying new ones?  I have no idea!

I DO recall loving stationary supplies when I was a kid.  That day that Dad would bring home the items that I'd be packing in my school bag...well, it was awesome!

Thanks for allowing me to write this.  It's kind of cathartic in a way.  And just out of curiosity, I just Googled "obsessed with school supplies" and dozens of articles popped up!  Apparently there are many adults who love wandering the office supply store aisles!

Whew!  It's always nice to know you're not alone!

So, be honest, do you stock up on supplies you really don't need?  Do you gravitate towards the school supplies aisle in the store?  Do you love the smell of a sharp pencil or a freshly cracked notebook?  Please share in the Comments section.
